Tua fandom is currently freaking out over “evil five” and speculations have begin. Imo, I would prefer if it wasn’t Sparrow Timeline! Five, but our own Five being evil. I would like to see him being,, not necessarily a villain, but an antagonist who goes against his sibling’s wishes.

If I had my way, “Evil Five” would be our Five, working for the Sparrows.

For one, tensions between him and his siblings have been rising since day 1. Five is willing to prioritize their survival over their immediate happiness and that, paired with the disconnect between their experiences after his disappearance, has lead to a strain between them that is really quite obvious in the way they are so quick to pin the blame on him.

A lot of people pointed out how frustrating their seeming ingratitude was, and while I don’t want to blame them outright, I can see why he would feel let down, lose his trust in them, and seek help elsewhere. And who better to ask for help than a superhero academy that has managed to maintain itself for this long, whose purpose IS to handle situations of importance like this? The Sparrows, seeing as they are still loyal to Reginald, definitely would be willing to help him on a mission, much more than Five’s own traumatized siblings.

Second, Five is the only one that Reginald considered sensible, worthy. He was… Less than impressed with the others. He found Five’s abilities interesting and was fascinated by him. I wouldn’t put it beyond Reginald to try to recruit Five, bring him over to his side. Also, it’s been a recurring theme in Five’s arcs to strike risky deals for the sake of his family. If it meant saving them, I’m sure Five would agree to anything. Plus, he’s the least suspicious of Reginald. He’s spent 45 years away from his abusive dad, he blames himself for the mistakes he made as a child, for all his rebellious tendencies he was forced to admit to himself that his father had been right and live with the consequences for the rest of time. To Five, after all these years, the only one he blames is himself. He also doesn’t quite grasp his siblings’ abuse either, because as Diego says, he skipped the latter years, when the worst of the abuse began and the family fell apart. He wouldn’t doubt his father, because everytime he has so far, he has been proven wrong. And so, the perfect opportunity arises for him to fall victim to Reginald’s manipulation.

Third, Five deserves to be helped by his siblings. It would be a good chance for him to see that his siblings aren’t as useless or incapable as he thought they were. It’s also a good chance for them to show up for him after refusing to help him all this time.

Four, Five is willing to hurt his siblings if it means saving them. He always has, whether it be leaving Diego in the hospital, hanging up the phone for Vanya, demanding his siblings leave their lives behind to escape the 60s, etc etc. He loves them, sure, but he often does things that he believes is for their own good, like a strict parent. I don’t think he would be unwilling to fight against his family if it meant helping them in the end.

And most importantly, I think it would be hilarious if Five finally changed out of his Umbrella Academy uniform: only to have to change into the Sparrow Academy uniform.
