I cannot believe “Kaguya is Kakashi’s mom” is a decently popular crack theory and I am only just now hearing about it.

History of this theory:

• During one of @sloaners art streams on 06/19/18, I brought up a premise for a soulmate AU where you trade attributes with a soulmate but it can be A) from any time in their lives and B) becomes more pronounced the more you deny it, so Kakashi, if Obito were one of his soulmates, would have horns because of Obito’s juubi fursona
• Sloane did her own take on this premise (which you can find here) during that same stream 
• I started writing a fic based on that premise (eventually posted on 02/09/19 which you can find here)
• We were discussing this AU in the writing channel of Sloane’s Discord on the same evening. Here are the relevant parts of this discussion arriving at this theory:

• Collectively, Sloane’s Discord all showed off their creative skills in the world-building of this premise
• @sansthepacifist suggested Kakashi getting a third eye 
• @uintuva suggested Sakumo being a time traveller
• @kiro-sveta was the first to suggest the ship name Kagumo
• @mutemelody suggested semi-immortal Sakumo
• I suggested Sakumo’s wounds being healed by moonlight and Kakashi being born through a moon pokeball
• (There were so many ideas and awesome contributions I cannot possibly list them all, just thank Sloane’s entire Discord.)
• Sloane posted excellent fanart for Sakumo and Kaguya as pairing on 06/19/18. (Found here.) As far as I recall, the first ever fanart of this pairing. Important side note: June 19, 2018 was a Tuesday? This was the middle of the week. Wild. 
  
• On 06/21/18, @kiro-sveta​ made some awesome fanart (found here) of Sasuke in his role as a double grandbaby
  
• That same day, I posted a silly list of reasons why this theory should be true (found here)
• On 06/22/18, @mutemelody​ posted the first fic (found here) with this concept and originated the pairing tag for Sakumo and Kaguya on AO3. As of today (09/06/19) there are currently 6 AO3 works with this pairing tag.
  
• Since then, @sloaners has posted a variety of wonderful fanart, headcanons, and even fic, all of which you can find in this tag. There have also been a number of other awesome contributions by other writers and artists. I have a masterpost of all the Kagumo posts I could find, though it needs to be updated, which I can post sometime if you’re interested!
